About the Illustrator

Marvin Jarboe grew up on a farm in Kentucky with three brothers and one sister, all of whom – with their parents’ blessings – left the family farm to pursue the arts, Christian ministry, or aviation. Mr. Jarboe joined the Army in 1968. His Military Occupation Specialty (MOS), to his surprise, turned out to be 81E20: Illustrator! He was stationed at Ft. Ritchie, Maryland, between 1968 and 1970. Later, under the G.I. Bill, Jarboe earned a fine art degree from Western Kentucky University.

He has worked in advertising art, in fine art and commercial screen printing, and has illustrated several Christian youth devotionals and one children’s book (The Cuddlers, La Leche League International, 1993). For the past 23 years, Mr. Jarboe has been a partner at Strickler’s Stained Glass, making leaded windows for churches and homes in Kentucky and surrounding states.

Mr. Jarboe lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with his wife, Paula. Jarboe is grateful for this opportunity to, in a small way, serve those who – at great personal and family sacrifice – secure our nation’s freedoms.
